Kangaroo Island, South Australia

Penneshaw is a small attractive village situated on the coast of Kangaroo Island, South Australia.

In the evening and very early morning, the Kangaroo Island Tamar wallabies can be seen feeding on the lawns around and in front of the beach houses in Penneshaw.

The 'Little Penguins' are another popular resident of Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island.

At the Penguin Information Centre (open every evening), you can learn all about these delightful creatures. Informative tours are offered every evening and come highly recommended. Walk along the beach road and the foreshore just after dark and you will see the penguins returning home for the night after a long day at sea.

You will often see dolphins or seals passing by and if you are fortunate you may spot a whale.

A small book is now available which details the various walks in and around Penneshaw. The book can be purchased at the Kangaroo Island Information Centre, Business Centre and various shops in Penneshaw.

The Kangaroo Island Information Centre is situated on Howard Drive, the road leading out of Penneshaw, directly opposite the boat haven. If you would like an island visitor guide sent to you before your holiday please phone Tourism Kangaroo Island on (08) 8553 1185, or when booking Kepals ask Robyn to arrange for a guide to be sent to you.

Penneshaw, the gateway to Kangaroo Island, has a lot to offer those who wish to relax, fish, swim, walk and enjoy the local wildlife. There are several places to dine or takeaway, a petrol outlet, souvenir/gift shop, liquor store and supermarket.
